Moorings

There are 10 first come first served visitor moorings at £20 p/night. All have pickup lines, are yellow, and are suitable for vessels up to 12tons. All moorings are used at the skipper's risk.

Pay cash at the shop beside Café Canna, or online here

Anchorage

The main bay is well sheltered from almost all directions, with plenty of space for anchoring around and amongst the moorings. Bottom is mud and sand, but with some kelp so dig in. The cleanest area is between the two chapels. Please do not anchor within 100m of the pier.

Seagrass Meadows - Sanday Beach and Coroghan Beach

We are lucky to have several seagrass meadows around our coastline. The main two meadows are off Sanday Beach and there is another meadow off Coroghan Beach. We are actively trying to preserve and protect the seagrass meadows so please anchor as far away from the beach and the entrance to the channel that goes under the bridge as possible. It is hoped that we will soon have these areas marked on nautical charts but please have a look at the maps below for areas to avoid dropping anchor.

Tenders / getting ashore

There is a slipway at the pier - please help us to make sure this is kept clear at all times for ferries, ribs, doctors boats and all the other services that keep the island going. There is space to store tenders at the top of the slipway.

Services

Showers, toilets and laundry are available at Visitor Hub - Donations welcome!

A water tap can be found at the Visitor Hub - Please be mindful of water use especially in dry, hot weather.

Unfortunately we lack the facilities to offer diesel and gas - the nearest options for these are Mallaig to the East, Carbost to the North, and Lochboisdale to West
